  3.      RPI= Rockwell Protocol Interface. (for the AFC/X,AMC/X,Pocket modems).
  4. There is a V42bis.DRV file on the diskette, and the Software must recognise
  5. RPI  for it to Interface that with the modem. Any software  that  reconises
  6. RPI will have a driver included. RPI based modems do not use RTS/CTS of the
  7. program, it too is RPI controlled. Always set modem speed to 2400.
  8.  
  9.      If you are having trouble, then in any program that does use RPI, just
  10. set  the entry of the phone directory to NONE (not to MNP/V42) to turn  off
  11. protocol.

  13.      If  the program does not support RPI, do NOT set RTS/CTS flow  or  any
  14. MNP  or  V42(bis) options. It will only work as a plain 2400  modem  (Hayes
  15. 2400).

  17.      There are not very many term programs that suport  RPI for
  18. V42bis. Right now I know of 3. (in order of ease of use).

  26. w/V42bis are the FCV/FXV (FC9624V FX9624V). They are often available  below
  27. $150 at retail or mail order.
